Seven steps to create an effective social media marketing strategy

One of the efficient platforms to market your business is Social Media. Few years ago, the question use to be, “why my business needs social media marketing?”, months ago the ask modified to, “how to use social media for my business elevation?”

Being Social Media Marketer, these questions excites me where as my struggle is still to answer the left over businesses who are unaware of the fact of Social Media Marketing. They may be still not clear of the strategy which is leaving them with negative assumptions.

1.      Assess Your Current Social Presence

Before strategizing the activities ahead, please assess your current position. Some of the areas to be considered while assessing the presence of your business on social media are:

  • Currently active on which all networks
  • Are your networks optimized (photo and cover images, bio, URL, etc.)
  • The most values are being brought by which networks currently
  • Comparison of your profiles to your competitors’ profiles

2.      Find Your Ideal Customer

In this part of strategy, you would like to be pin specific. You have identified the perfect target market for you and they are the millennial. But if you can find the perfect target customers, like female youngsters between 15- 30 years of age from India earning less than INR 25000, primarily uses Instagram and interested in grooming, can elevate your business better. 3.      Create A Mission Statement on Social Media

Create a thoughtful mission statement on your Social Media as it will drive the future actions planned over it. It will reflect your brand identity. It can be, “to use social media to elevate your business digitally.” This helps you in documenting what to share and create.

4.      Identification of Key Success Metrics

To improve anything we need to measure it first and realize the present performance. A few metrics to consider measuring are:

  • Time Spent on Website
  • Conversion Rate
  • Sentiment
  • Total Shares

5.      Create and Curate Engaging Content

You identified your target customers, created your mission statement and now the time has come you should post some contents relevant to your business. It fuels the social media. What is content? Below are the few examples of it.

6.      Track, Analyze, Optimize

This is the most significant steps of all. It seems to be quite simple and basic but tracking your outcomes, analyzing the information and then tweaking it to optimize them is crucial.
